Energyflo Construction Technologies
The Energyflo Construction Technologies Ltd is a new Clean Tech. company operating in the building construction sector, which specializes in low energy and modular building design and construction.
Energyflo's primary aim is to deliver innovative, high performance products and services to the building construction industry that are affordable, and can be applied to all types of new and refurbishment building projects.
Energyflo has developed the Energyflo™ cell, a groundbreaking multi-functional dynamic insulation product that replaces conventional thermal insulation in the building envelope to substantially reduce space heating energy use, cut CO2 emissions and improve indoor air quality.
Combining Energyflo’s distributed through-the-wall ventilation systems with exhaust air heat recovery typically reduces HVAC plant cost by 10% and yields operational energy savings of up to 40% for space heating and cooling. In addition airborne particulate pollution from vehicle exhausts and other sources is filtered from the air as it flows through an Energyflo breathing wall panel resulting in a greatly improved living and working environment within the building.
Trials around Marylebone Road London (one of Europe's most polluted streets) confirmed the systems exceptional filtration ability - as effective as a conventional HEPA filter - but with the important distinction that breathing walls can be made to last the life of the building.
The Energyflo™ cell is undergoing final tests in full-scale building demonstration projects in the UK, UAE, and Korea in advance of its commercial launch in these and other world markets.

Inertius
Inertius Ltd has developed an inert anode technology that removes the production of CO2 from a number of metal winning processes including;
Aluminium, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Chromate vi recovery, Rare Earth metals.
The key benefits of this technology are;
Elimination of CO2 in the reaction cell – removes threat of Carbon Taxation. Significantly cheaper to produce than current anode technology. Reduces down time and operational costs. Easily recycled at end of life.
The technology is a spin out from the University of Leeds and is covered by a patent, which will form the basis of an IP portfolio as each metal winning process is exploited.

CMR Fuel Cells
CMR Fuel Cells Limited is a UK developer of fuel cell stacks
for portable and small stationary power generation
applications.
The Compact Mixed-Reactant (CMR) fuel cell stack
technology is for use in applications such as battery chargers,
auxiliary power units, laptops, power tools, robotic devices,
portable generators, and portable military applications.
Assuming 50% electrical conversion efficiency for a CMR fuel
cell system operating at low current density, 2 kWh of
electricity are produced/kg methanol.

ITI Energy
ITI has developed a novel gasification system based on
process intensification and miniaturisation technologies.
The ITI fixed-bed down-updraft type gasifier is designed to
produce combustible gas of calorific value in the order of 4.1-
6.2MJ/m3 depending on the feedstock Calorific Value –
approximately 1 MWe and 2 MWt/tonne of input per hour.
The
gas produced after cooling and cleaning will then be supplied
to be burnt in a boiler or internal combustion engine.
ITI’s unique patented design produces gas free of all
pollutants, and offers considerable efficiency improvements
over existing technology.
The proven efficiency of the Gasifier tested with a wide range
of feedstock results in that for 1 tonne of feedstock produces 1
MWe and 2 MWt per hour.

ITM Power
ITM Power is a leading technical innovator of fuel cell
technologies for the hydrogen economy, making both
hydrogen cells and electrolysers more efficient and cost
effective.
ITM Power plc has patented new hydrophilic polymers for
Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells and
electrolysers, which the company estimates are up to five
times more conductive than conventional membranes. The
company has completed a research programme to develop
low cost fuel cells that can use a variety of fuels for bespoke
applications and has developed a potentially low cost mass
production process.

Synchropulse
Electric motors consume over 65% of the world's electricity, yet a large proportion of smaller motors are inefficient wasting much of the energy they consume (US Department of Energy estimates that some 500 million of these motors are only 20% efficient).
A new European Directive is introducing mandatory efficiencies for motors from 2011, increasing the pressure on manufacturers to find cost effective high efficiency technologies.
Synchropulse have the solution, their patented hybrid EC, brushless electric motors uniquely offer a high efficiency, variable speed motor, that is financially viable for general purpose applications. Find out more:

Pulse Generation
Pulse Generation has developed an innovative design for water current turbines which can work in a variety of conditions to generate electricity, including tidal power devices which are uniquely able to operate in shallow water. Shallow flows represent some of the best located and most easily exploited tidal resource in the UK and worldwide.
The Pulse Generation system is based on pairs of vertically oscillating hydrofoils which operate through the full depth of water. Energy from the moving water drives two horizontal hydrofoils which resemble aeroplane wings. The vertical movement of the foils in the water turns a conventional generator above the water. The absence of a rotating turbine removes many of the restrictions to size that shallow locations impose on other technologies.

This design gives Pulse a unique advantage over the competition in that its machines can use the full resource even in shallow water. Devices can be engineered for sheltered as opposed to true off-shore environments, thereby making considerable savings in installation and connection costs. However, this feature does not limit Pulse’s capability in deeper water as the modular design allows additional pairs of foils to be added to the supporting structure. This means that machines can be developed for any depth of water, by adding the appropriate number of foils. Machines can also be grouped together in linear arrays across a tidal flow. The installed capacity of each unit is 0.5 MW but clusters of machines will multi-MW generating capacity.
